I have never really placed any information on the web through the use of blogs, so this is a first for me. As a part of my Web Page Design class we were tasked with creating a blog and speaking briefly on the different types of websites from our assigned readings thus far...
I would have to say that the most beneficial from my view would be to take orders, provide technical assistance or to provide customer assistance/satisfaction. It's actually funny that the customer satisfaction website was one of the many choices listed in the reading. The company that I currently work with has had me create a Access Database to track and help resolve customer complaints/inquiries that we field on a daily basis between all of the our departments.
I think that overall anything that could be fielded via the world wide web to benefit a company's overall performance and at the same time create ease of access for those that the company services is the most realistic and most profitable reasons for a website. I know that personally I hate to be on the phone with customer service representatives for any period of time trying to dispute something. Personally, I would rather submit some type of complaint or claim via their website that I know gives me a papertrail of actions that I have taken to correct the issues at hand. This could also benefit the company by saving money paid in salaries for customer service reps that solely answer phones all day. It would be simple enough to create a required number of positions, depending of course on how many inquiries the company receives on average, to field the inquiries that are submitted.
Again, just my personal preference...
